Abstract
1455026 Scraper conveyers GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 16 Nov 1973 [20 Nov 1972] 53250/73 Heading B8A [Also in Division E1] A jib A of a cutter-loader of a mining machine comprises an electric motor 13, a gear reduction unit 14 and, at the free end C, a rotatable member 10 for driving a single chain scraper assembly 12. A sprocket 46 of the member 10 is mounted on a shaft 39 which also carries a pair of cutting wheels 42. The motor housing includes channel portions 18, 19 such that, when the housing is bolted between the gear unit 14 and a section 24 of the jib, the portions 18, 19 form parts of guide channels for the endless scraper assembly 12. The gear unit 14 and section 24 also have guide channels. The unit 14 comprises bevel gearing 32, 33 and spur gearing 34-38. As shown, a rotatable member 11 at end B of the jib is freely rotatable but the member may be driven, Fig. 5 (not shown), the motor and gear units then being positioned adjacent the member 11. Alternatively, a drive unit may be provided for each member 10, 11. The cutters 42 may be dispensed with and two conveyer chains may be provided. The jib may be mounted on a turntable and arranged for raising and lowering.
