Abstract

1344855 Tyre vulcanizing press A HERBERT M GUHR [trading as LEONHARD HERBERT MASCHINENFABRIK] 2 Dec 1971 [5 Dec 1970] 56033/71 Heading B5A A dual tyre vulcanizing press with a top press part 2 vertically reciprocal relative a lower press part 1 to compress a pair of moulds 20, 21 therebetween, has driving means 4-9 for the part 2 mounted on the bottom press part which actuate connecting rods 11 located at opposite sides of the press. Each connecting rod is pivotally connected to the part 2 by a pin 15 mounted in a bearing 13 slidably lengthwise of the rod in an opening 12; shim plates 23a-23i transferable from one end of the bearing to the other are located in the opening to determine the position of the bearing therein whereby mould pressure may be adjusted. The shim plates are secured by a rod 43 extending through holes in the plates and connecting rod. The top and bottom of each mould are engaged by heating plates spaced from the press parts by heat-insulating plates. One or more adapter plates insertable between a mould and a press part enable moulds of different heights to be accommodated. Such plates may be tapered to provide a substantially flat pressure surface 34 on the press part 2 when the press is closed.
