Abstract

1,239,248. 248. Weighing apparatus. DAVALL GEAR CO. Ltd. Oct.20, 1969 [Oct.24, 1968], No. 45590/ 68. Heading G1W. Apparatus for measuring the wheel load of a vehicle comprises a platform 12 on to which the vehicle wheel can be driven and a load cell 15 fixed to a frame 8 and operatively connected to the platform 12 by way of a ball arrangement 14 which ensures vertical loads only are transmitted to the cell 15. As shown, the platform 12 which may be located between two ramp sections (3) Fig. 1 (not shown) is provided with a cylindrical boss 13 which receives a ball 14 which bears on the end wall of a hollow piston, the piston being movable in a cylinder 17 which contains liquid in communication with a gauge (20) for indicating the weight of a load on the platform 12. The ramp sections (3) may be connected to further ramp sections (2) by interlocking devices (5, 6) on the ramp sections.
