Abstract

1336409 Welding by fusion HENRY WIGGIN & CO Ltd 4 Aug 1972 [6 Aug 1971] 36518/72 Heading B3R [Also in Division C7] Inert gas shielded welding of alloys containing: 19 to 30% chromium; up to 2% aluminium; up to 0À6% titanium; up to 15% molybdenum; up to 50% cobalt; up to 16% tungsten; up to 4% niobium; up to 20% iron; up to 0À015% boron; up to 0À1% zirconium; up to 3% tantalum; balance nickel is accomplished using, as filler metal, nickel-base alloys containing: 20 to 24% chromium; 0À8 to 1À5% aluminium; 9À5 to 20% cobalt; 7 to 12% molybdenum; up to 0À15% carbon; up to 0À6% titanium; up to 0À01% boron; up to 0À1% zirconium; up to 0À05% magnesium; up to 0À15% cerium and/or lanthanum the balance being nickel, impurities and incidental ingredients. In an example plates formed of 23% Cr, 60% Ni, 1À3% Al, 0À33% Ti, 0À16% Si, 0À09% C, balance Fe, MIG arc-welded with V- groove butt joints using argon as the shielding gas and a filler metal comprising 21À7% Cr, 0À92% Al, 9À98% Co, 9À1% Mo, 0À04% C, 0À4% Ti, 0À005% B, 0À17% Fe, 0À08% Si, balance Ni. The filler metal may be in the form of wire or strip.
