Abstract

An alloy having good creep properties at high temperatures has the following composition, Co greater than 10 and up to 40 per cent; Cr 10-30 per cent; Mo 2-18 per cent; Al 0.2-8.6 per cent; Ti 0.2-4.4 per cent; Ni, and normal impurities, the remainder, so that the sum Mo + 2 Al + 4 Ti is between 16 and 20. The alloy may also contain one or more of the following elements, V up to 10 per cent; Nb up to 4 per cent; Mn up to 2 per cent; Si up to 1 per cent; Fe up to 5 per cent; C up to 0.5 per cent; N up to 0.25 per cent; one or more of Ca, Mg, Ce and rare earth metals up to 0.5 per cent in total. The alloy may be heat treated by heating at 1,050-1,250 DEG C for 2-20 hours followed by heating at 700-1,000 DEG C for 2-50 hours. Specifications 583,845, 607,616, 620,676 and 666,401 are referred to.
