Abstract

1319672 Drum ends K K H EDLUND 19 Oct 1970 [17 Oct 1969] 49538/70 Heading B8D A resilient polyethylene one piece shockabsorbing end wall 1 for a drum comprises a circumferential groove 5 defined by an inner outwardly-converging conical wall and an outer cylindrical wall 4, which is adapted to fit within the drum shell 3 and has a turned-back rim 2, and a shallow inwardly-converging conical flange 7 joining the inner conical wall of the groove to a shallow saucer-like central depression. The rim may be secured to the drum shell by rivetting, wire-stitching, sewing or glueing. The drum shell may be of wound-paper. The wall thickness of the inner conical groove wall may be greater than that of the base of the groove but less than that of outer cylindrical groove wall. Openings 8 and 9, Fig. 2 (not shown), are provided in diametrically-opposed flat recesses 10 and 11 formed in the conical flange.
