Abstract

1,025,316. Container closures. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 16, 1964 [Nov. 26, 1963], No. 46663/63. Heading B8T. A container closure of a thermoplastic material, comprises a central lid portion 1 and annular upwardly and downwardly extending portions 2 and 3 providing a recess between them for receiving a container rim 7, the inner surface of the portion 3 having an inwardly directed annular flange 5 for engaging a recess 9 in the container rim, said flange 5 being provided with axial slots or notches 6 on its inner surface. Thus when the closure is applied any air that is compressed is forced through the notches.
