Abstract

1336427 Container closures VAN LEER (UK) Ltd 14 Dec 1970 [12 Dec 1969] 59223/70 Heading B8T The periphery of a lid for sealing liquid containers comprises an inside flange 6 and an outside flange 7 which fit into recesses 8, 12 respectively in the rim of the container 1. Between the flanges 6, 7 is arranged a resilient sealing ring 16, e.g. of polyurethane foam. The lid is then secured by a locking ring 13. The flange 6 is reinforced by triangular ribs 9, which may be replaced by a thickened inner edge, and the flexibility of the lid is increased by annular ridges (18), Fig. 1 (not shown). The outside flange 7 may comprise a cylindrical wall, or spaced lugs. To further increase the flexibility of the lid, it may be made of low-density polyethylene or similar material.
