Abstract

838,841. Container closures. HARKRADER, S. K. Oct. 23, 1958, No. 33893/58. Class 125(3). A dispensing device for a container, e.g. a tube, bottle or can, comprises outer and inner shells 1, 2 apertured respectively at 3 and 4, the outer shell 1 being rotatable on the inner shell 2 to bring said apertures into or out of alignment. A ring 5, fixed by adhesive to a conical portion 11 of the outer shell 1, has grooves 9 separated by stops 8 so that when shells 1, 2 are assembled tongues 7 formed on the shell 2 engage in the grooves 9 thereby allowing relative rotation of the shells 1, 2 within the limits of the stops 8. The shells 1, 2 may be of plastics, metal, wood or glass, and the ring 5 of rubber, plastics, wood or metal. In a modification, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown) finger grips are provided on the outer shell. Instead of a screw-thread on the inner shell 2 the device may be fitted to a container by friction and secured thereon by clamping. If the container is of plastics the device may be secured by means of a solvent.
