Abstract

1304563 Container closures R P LINKLETTER 11 Aug 1970 [11 Aug 1969] 38604/70 Heading B8T A flexible cup-shaped stopper 18 which is retained by the flat radial surface 28 on its circumferential projection 26 engaging below the flat radial surface 16 on lugs or annular projection 14 inside the mouth of bottle 10, can be released with one hand as shown in Fig 3, by depressing the centre portion 24 of the stopper while lifting the peripheral flange 20 which overlies the rim 14 of the bottle mouth to disengage the radial surfaces 28, 16. A rigid disc 30 having pin 32 frictionally engaged in socket 33 or a central pillar (34, Fig. 5, not shown) integral with portion 24 may assist in depressing the centre of the stopper. A cylindrical flange 36, Fig. 4, may extend from flange 20 to below portion 24 of the stopper to prevent soiling of the inner portions of the stopper when it is put down without inversion. A rigid cylinder 38, Fig. 7, may be inserted into the stopper to prevent accidental disengagement of the radial surfaces. The cylinder 38 and the stopper may be moulded in one piece with a hinge and with a snap fitting tab 44 or serrated engaging surfaces to hold the cylinder in place.
