Abstract
1315103 Positive-displacement pumps SUNDSTRAND CORP 19 April 1971 [26 March 1970] 24709/71 Heading F1F Hydraulic pumping-apparatus includes an inlet 14 containing a centrifugal-pump impeller 18, and a positive-displacement pump 20 comprising a two-lobed cam-ring 60, a rotor 40, outwardlysliding blades 28 and two sets of inlet and outlet ports 30, 32, 34, 36 and 42, 44, 46, 48 in end plates 58 so that liquid is pumped not only in crescent-shaped cavities 24, 26 but also in slots 38 for the blades. The liquid issuing from the outlet ports 34, 36 flows to an outlet 16 through a filter 50. A proportion of the liquid is cleansed by the filter and flows through passages 52 and the inlet ports 42, 44 to be pumped by way of the ports 46, 48 through bearings 62 and splines 64 coupling the rotor to a shaft 22 so as to lubricate these parts. The liquid escapes from the bearings and splines into the inlet 14 through passages 66. The inner surface of the filter is washed by the outgoing liquid. The cam-ring may comprise a single lobe instead of two.
