Abstract

1336494 Centrifugal pumps R G FULLER 22 July 1971 [12 Aug 1970] 34361/71 Heading F1C A centrifugal pump, especially for solids entrained in a carrier fluid, has a chamber 1, Fig. 1, divided into two sub-chambers 7, 8, and the impeller has at least one pair of passageways 6, 10 therein. One passageway 6 delivers from inlet 5 to sub-chamber 7, and the other passageway 10 delivers from sub-chamber 7 to outlet 11 via sub-chamber 8, thereby forming a two-stage pump. The passageways 6, 10 are generally helical. The sub-chamber (8) is preferably of volute form. In an alternative embodiment, Fig.2 (not shown), the sub-chamber (8) communicates with two lateral outlets (11), and the pump drive shaft enters the chamber (1) through the inlet (5).
