Abstract
130,763. Charles, L. A. Aug. 7, 1918. Regulating.-In engines of the Diesel type for aircraft, the injection-air and fuel valves are worked simultaneously by an adjustable cam the variable contour of which is a function of the quantity of fuel, the load on the engine, and the altitude of the engine above sea-level. As shown, the fuel valve 17 and air valve 29 are on the same spindle, which is worked by the sliding and rotating cam 34. The fuel enters at 18 and is induced from the nozzle 15 by highly compressed injecton air from the surrounding passage and carried into the cylinder through the valve 29.
