Abstract

127,497. Sweetser, G. Nov. 19, 1918. Lift valves; safety-valves. - A stop valve, adapted also to act as a relief valve, has a lift valve member resiliently mounted in a slidable member actuated by a non-reciprocating screw. The valve member 24 is held to its seat 5 by a spring 12 bearing against a washer 13 resting on a shoulder 14 on the member 7, and is lifted from its seat by pins 8 on the member 7 engaging slots 28. The pins 8 also engage slots 9 in the casing to prevent the rotation of the member 7, which is internally threaded to engage a screwed actuating- spindle 16. The spindle is held against endlong movement by collars 18, 19, the collar 18 being held against the inside of the bonnet 3 by a spring washer 20 to make a fluid-tight joint. The lower end of the spindle is fitted with a stop 21 to prevent the valve member from being positively pressed to its seat.
