126,922. O'Brien, T. B., and Gray, W. A. Dec. 31, 1918. Drum or barrel winding-machines; driving-gear; brakes and retarding-apparatus.-Relates to hauling, lifting, &c. machines of the kind described in Specifications 4009/09 and 22190/14. The winding drum c carries one or preferably two ratchet wheels e each of which is adapted to be rotated by the alternate engagement of hooked pawls h' pressed upwards by springs m<1> and mounted on levers f adapted to be rocked on a pivot g by means of a common handle f<2>. Reversal of the drum is prevented by a safety-pawl t, Fig. 6, on a lever p mounted on a pivot and carrying a stop u and a band brake w engaging a brake drum z.
