Abstract

Hand-actuation.-In eitherside wagon brakes the brackets A which carry the brake shaft H are arranged in the planes of the inner and outer faces respectively of the wheels. The long lever B rests in a cradle E fixed to a shaft F having operating handles G at either side of the wagon. The cradle E is connected by a link Q with a curved double ratchet P which, when the handle G is turred, rotates and engages the long lever B so as to keep the brake on until the handle G is turned back. The upper part of Fig. 2 shows the cradle E and ratchet P arranged between the wheels; the lower part shows them outside the wheels.
