Abstract
1,245,171. Latches. TUEBCLAMPS Ltd. 27 Feb., 1970 [1 March, 1969], No. 11030/69. Heading E2A. A fastening comprises a gravity bolt comprising a pair of arms 18 pivoting on a post 11 of a hinged door 10 and engageable with a fixed door post 16 and locked by a pin passing through holes adjacent the free ends of the arms. The pin 19, which is connected by a chain 20 to the pivot 17 of the arms 18, has a hole for a padlock hasp. A peg 22 connected to the post 11 limits downward outward movement of the arms which when inoperative hang vertically downward. In d modification, the fastening arms 18 are combined with a sliding latch bolt 26 which projects through door post 12 into aligned holes in a fixed door post 14 and a sleeve 32 thereon to retain the door closed or when opened in either direction through 90‹. The bolt is connected to the arms 18 by pivoting links 24. The bolt is released together with the arms 18 by rotating the handle 36 clockwise, the handle is returned to its original position to latch the door in either open position. The arms 18 may be urged to the closed-position by a spring.
