In a car door locking arrangement comprising a door-mounted spring-loaded bolt in the form of a pivoted segment 9 having faces 17, 18, 19, 20 arranged stepwise in series with each other, the keeper is a U-shaped socket 1 secured to the door post 2 and comprises an open tapering slot 6 adapted to receive a plastic bushing 23 mounted on the pivot shaft 10 of the bolt when the door is closed, and a horizontal flange 4 having an opening 7 for the bolt the different faces of which are adapted to be brought into abutting engagement with an edge 22 of the opening depending on how far the door is forced inwards upon closing. The bolt may be released from outside or inside the car by actuating a push-button, such as 24, against the appropriate arm 13, 14, of a spring-loaded lever mounted on, and rotatable about, the bolt pivot 10.
