Abstract

1,234,772. Hand operated soil cultivator. F. M. ASPIN. 10 June, 1968 [10 March, 1967], No. 11265/67. Heading A1B. A portable powered hand implement for working soil comprises a tubular handle 10 adapted to receive a portable power unit (11), Fig. 2 (not shown), a gearbox 12, a power transmission shaft (not shown) extending through the handle, and two tool-receiving sockets having soil-working tools 13, 14. The tools are of helical shape, are of opposite hand, are spaced so as to overlap, are rotated in opposite directions and have their helices phased so that the implement has an appreciable directional bias when operated. A shoe plate 15 controls the depth the tools can penetrate into the soil.
