Abstract

1,218,267. Securing members on spindles. JACKSON BROS. (LONDON) Ltd. 20 Oct., 1969 [18 Oct., 1968], No. 49615/68. Heading F2U. A boss 1, which may carry a knob, pulley or sprocket 5, is secured on the end of a spindle 4 by a wedge-ended longitudinal key 2 moved into and out of engagement by a slotted screwed plug 3 in the end of the boss 1. The edges of the key engage guide slots (8a) in the boss 1 and the interengaging wedge surfaces 9 force the inner surface of key 2 against a flat on spindle 4. An arcuate recess 16 in key 2 is engaged by a circular boss 15 integral with plug 3. In a second form, Fig. 7, key 2 has an integral lug 17 which engages the screw-plug through a coiled compression spring 18.
