Abstract

1371641 Adjustable chairs PARNALL. & SONS Ltd 10 Nov 1972 [23 Nov 1971] 54236/71 Heading A4J The backrest 10 of a chair is mounted for vertical adjustment on a stem 15 attached to the seat, the backrest being provided with a housing in which the upper end of the stem is inserted, a T-shaped finger piece 21 being mounted in an aperture 20 in the stem, the fingerpiece extending through a slot 17 in the housing and being spring biased into engagement with a pair of a plurality of pairs of aligned recesses 18 formed in the lateral edges of the slot to hold the backrest in position on the stem, disengagement being effected by pressing the fingerpiece against the spring 24. A similar connection to that used between the stem and backrest may be used between the seat and the stem and the seat and an armrest.
