A cam-follower comprises a part-cylindrical member 2 which bears against a cam 1 and is carried by a part 3 secured to a spindle 4 pivotally mounted in the end of a sliding tappet 7, the axis of the spindle 4 being substantially aligned with the point of contact between the member 2 and cam 1. Alternatively, the camfollower 2 may have a flat surface.
