Channels in internal-combustion engine parts and' valves.- In an overhead valve mechanism of an internal-combustion engine in which a valve rocker VR is secured to a shaft RS rocked by a rocker arm RA, a lubricant is supplied to a longitudinal passage c in the shaft and passes through ducts d, d<1> in the valve rocker to the valve stem e, whence it passes through a duct o to the valve guide. A cavity containing felt or the like q, Fig. 5, may be provided in the valve rocker in the line of oil flow, in order to control the flow. A casing h enclosing the rocker arm RA and the upper end of the push rod f is fixed to the upper end of the push-rod sleeve g, which communicates with the crank chamber. Lubricant breathes from the crank chamber into the casing h, whence it passes into the passage c. The bearing a of the shaft receives lubricant from the casing h, and the other bearing b receives lubricant from a cup enclosing the other end of the shaft. A drain pipe l is fitted. Lubricant passes to the head of the push-rod f through a slot m and a duct n in the rocker arm.
