Abstract

1,212,513. Railway vehicle suspensions. BRITISH RAILWAYS BOARD. 11 July, 1968 [28 June, 1967], No. 29871/67. Heading B7L. A four-wheel (or a bogie) railway vehicle comprises a body 1 mounted by suspension links 5 on a leaf spring 3 carried by the axle box 4 of each wheel set 2, wherein each (or one) end of each link 5 is a close running fit in a bearing block having a bearing surface 14 in the form of a separate friction lining 15 so as to permit relative lateral movement of the body and wheel set under frictional restraint. Suspension links 5 extend on both sides of the leaf spring 3 at each end thereof and are connected to the spring 3 by pins 7 received in cylindrical bearings 8 in blocks 9 disposed one on each side of the spring 3. Each suspension link 5 comprises two parallel limbs 11 and 12 interconnected at their upper and lower ends by pins 13 which are a close running fit in the bearing surfaces 14 of the linings 15 which are located by block shoulders 9 or by ribs engaging block grooves. Alternatively, the linings 15 may be cylindrical bushes. The pins 13 are cylindrical at their ends where they engage in the limbs 11 and 12, and are semi-cylindrical in their mid-sections where they engage the bearing surfaces 14.
