Abstract

1,180,783. Rail vehicle bogies. L. LANDEBORG, S. T. HENRIKSSON, and R. L. MUOTKA. 5 April, 1967 [5 April, 1966], No. 15530/67. Heading B7L. [Also in Division F2] A bogie for a low-loader railway truck comprises a pair of wheel units 1 each consisting of a pair of longitudinal beams 5 connected by a girder 4, the beams of each unit having rotatably mounted therein wheels 6 and being inwardly extended at 14 in order to be resiliently pivoted at the sides of the bogie, about transverse horizontal pivot pins 15, to the beams of the other said unit, there being supported on the units 1, by rubber springs 17, a frame girder unit 2, 3, the springs 17 being inclined such that the weight of the girder unit and load carried thereon is transmitted to the units 1 to create a restoring force which returns the extensions 14 to their rest position after a pivoting movement therebetween. The springs 17 are connected between opposing oblique surfaces on the units 1 and girder unit member 2. Two braking systems are used wherein disc brake pads are made to contact the inner and outer faces of the wheels using brake cylinders 11 and 19. Adjacent ends of low-loaders 19 are supported on the bogies via rubber springs 20, and are free to articulate about a pin 22 resiliently mounted in frame member 3. .
