Abstract

1,197,976. Single stroke fluid-pressure apparatus. B.O. ROSAEN. Aug. 9, 1967 No. 36570/67. Heading F1P. In a fluid operated motor wherein a piston 32 slides in a cylinder 10, a tubular member 40 is fixed at 60 to the piston rod 30 so as to be movable therewith, and the tubular member defines with the outside of the cylinder 10 an annular cavity 48 having a cross-sectional area such that the effective areas presented to the fluid-pressure for movement of the piston in either direction are substantially the same. As shown, the annular cavity is equal in cross-sectional area to the piston rod 30. Fluid is supplied through a port 18 to a chamber 12A for movement of the piston 32 to the right and through a port 66 in the tubular member 40 for movement of the piston to the left, the annular cavity 48 being connected to the piston rod chamber 12B through apertures 49 in the cylinder 10. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the annular cavity 40 is closed and of equal area to the cylinder chamber 12A, the piston rod chamber 12B being vented. The ports 18, 66 may be disposed in the end 54 of the tubular member, Fig. 5 (not shown), in which case passages in the piston rod communicate fluidpressure to one or both of the chambers 12A, 12B.
