Abstract

1,036,498. Fluid pressure actuators. PNEUMATIC-HYDRAULIC DEVELOPMENT CO. Inc. Oct. 5, 1964 [Dec. 30, 1963], No. 40416/64. Heading F1P. The upper side of each end block 12, 14, Fig. 10 (not shown) of a double-acting pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder 10 has a blind bore 28, 80 connected by lines 86, 88, Fig. 8 (not shown) to a manually operated reversing valve 90 and connected by first and second bores 34, 36 closed by caps 52, 64 and connected by passages 60, 78 to the cylinder space and each bore 34 is provided with a check valve 56 past which pressure fluid is admitted to the cylinder whilst each bore 36 is provided with an adjustable needle valve 72 serving to control the cylinder exhaust and hence the speed of the piston 13 (not shown), the rod 16 of which is supported by a bearing within an axial passage 22 in end block 14. The blocks 12, 14 are clamped together by screwed rods 24, Fig. 1 (not shown).
