Abstract

1,196,684. Endless conveyers. RANK XEROX Ltd. 19 Oct., 1967 [24 Oct., 1966], No. 47660/67. Heading B8A. [Also in Divisions B2 and B3] A blast cabinet 20 has a front wall 22 with a window 26, end wall 23 with an ingress port, end wall 24 with an egress port, and a roof 27 on which are mounted receptors 28 for holding a blast nozzle 30 so that it is directed towards a workpiece being transported through the cabinet. The workpieces 10 are xerographc drums having an aluminium base with a selenium coating which is to be removed. The drums are supported by two rows of rollers 34 mounted in cradles 38; the rear and forward cradles are respectively fixedly and adjustably mounted on plates 35 flexibly joined by links 36 to form a conveyer belt driven by a motor 32. The rollers 34 carry rings 41, e.g. of silicone rubber. As the workpieces pass through the blast the rings 41 on the rear rollers 34 contact a drive roll 45 driven by a motor 49 and gearbox 48, whereby the workpieces are rotated while being blasted. As they enter the cabinet the plates 35 ride into sliding contact with guide rails 50. A guide plate 51 biased by a rubber member 52 urges the plates 35 rearwardly to maintain the rings 41 on the rear rollers in contact with the drive roll. At the egress port is a gravity roll conveyer 16 for removing workpieces.
