Abstract
1,194,052. Anchorages for tie rods. GEOTECHNICAL DRILLING CO. Ltd. 8 Nov., 1968 [9 Aug., 1967], No. 36492/67. Heading B4C. [Also in Divisions E1 and F2] An anchorage member for securing tie rods comprises a substantially cylindrical drill head 1, an intermediate screw threaded portion 3, a body portion 2, an internally screw threaded bore 6, and ducts 7. To drive the member into the ground it is attached to a driving tube 8 and subjected to a rotary drilling action. Water is pumped down the tube and via bore 6 and ducts 7 to the face of the head. Further tubes may be attached to the first tube so that the member can be located at its required depth. When at the required depth a tie rod is screwed into the bore 6, and the tube 8 is unscrewed and withdrawn whilst simultaneously cement grout is pumped between the tube and the portion 2 to surround the member.
