Abstract

1366495 Boring earth SANDVIK AB and ATLAS COPCO AB 29 Nov 1971 [27 Nov 1970] 55295/71 Heading E1F A tool for inserting casing 11 into a borehole comprises a bit 25 in alignment with the axis 16 of drill rods 10, and an eccentric sleeve 17 having a cutter 18, the sleeve being rotatable from the cutting position shown to a position in which it may be withdrawn with the bit through the casing. A known bit is mounted on an adapter 12 having an eccentric 14 on which the sleeve is mounted. The adapter has a guide portion 13 loosely fitting within the casing to permit passage of flushing fluid. In a modification the bit is integral with the adapter. In the construction shown in Fig. 4 the sleeve 35 is moved downwardly on the adapter 30 to the bit to permit withdrawal of the tool through the casing.
