Abstract

1,068,357. Ground anchors. SCHWABISCHE HUTTENWERKE G.m.b.H. April 28; 1965 [April 30, 1964], No. 17793/65. Heading E1B. [Also in Division F2] A ground anchor which can be expanded below ground to secure a cable attached to a hole 15 therein comprises a sleeve 3 having longitudinal slits 5 and a solid tip 2 screwthreadedly engageable by a detachable driving rod 4 having a striking head 7. After driving in the anchor a nut 10 on the rod 4 is actuated to contract the sleeve 3 and thereby buckle its slit portion 6 outwardly to project into the ground. The rod 4 is then detached leaving only the sleeve 3 in the ground. The sleeve may subsequently be remmoved from the ground by driving in the rod 4 to straighten the buckled portion. Alternatively the anchor sleeve may be fixed by pouring concrete into the buckled portion. In a modification the actuating nut 10 is replaced by a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder.
