Abstract

1,185,997. Fork lift devices. A. R. FRATER. 7 April, 1967 [19 April, 1966], No. 16109/67. Heading B8H. A load supporting fork 16 is connected by a spring suspension 14 to a back frame 10 which is adapted to be connected to the lift linkage of a tractor. The upright portions 40 of the fork arms are mounted on an axle 44 pivotally mounted on a cross-bar 46. The cross-bar 46 is secured by a clamp 54 to the centre of a leaf-spring 34 which is connected by links 36 to the upper cross member 26 of the back frame 10. The orientation of the fork is maintained by spacer elements 60 on the cross-bar 46 engaging the forward edge of the spring, by spacer blocks 62 on the fork engaging the lower cross member 18 of the back frame 10, and by bars 58 extending between lugs on the cross-bar 46 and a bracket 32, 12 on the back frame. The spacer blocks 62 provide friction faces which will frictionally dampen vertical and limited lateral tilting movement of the fork.
