Abstract

511,875. Spring frames for motor-cycles. VELOCE, Ltd., and IRVING, P. E. March 19, 1938, No. 8540. [Class 136 (iii)] In a spring frame for motor-cycles of the type in which the axle of the rear road wheel is carried by a member pivoted to the main frame and controlled by one or more interposed compression springs, the arrangement is such that the position of the springs can be adjusted for varying the moment of the force exerted by the springs on the pivotal member, according to the load carried by the cycle. In one form, the rear wheel axle is carried by a fork a, which is pivoted at d to the main frame c and is controlled by two compression springs h adjustably connected at their upper ends to a rear extension e of the main frame, such extension being supported by struts f. The adjustable, connection comprises arcuate slots g, or a series of holes. In another form, the 'rear wheel is carried by a triangular frame provided near its apex on either side with arcuate slots for the adjustable connection of compression springs, the other ends of which are connected to the main frame hear the seat pillar.
