Abstract

1,181,841. Calendar timepieces. CITIZEN TOKEI K.K. April 19, 1967 [April 20, 1966], No.18099/67. Heading G3T. Day and date indicating means in a timepiece comprises rotatable day and date dials 28, 21 operated by star wheels 27, 14, respectively, a first cam 26 having a main projection 26b, an auxiliary projection 26d, and a peripheral surface portion 26a for engaging between two adjacent projections of the star wheel 27 to hold it in a set position, and a gear train 17, 18, 19 for transmitting motion from the star wheel 14 to a second cam 20 having a projection 20b for engaging in notches 21a in the dial 21 to drive the latter and a peripheral surface portion 20a for engaging in notches 21b in the dial 21 for holding the latter in set positions. The star wheel 14 is rotated intermittently by a finger 13 carried by a gear wheel 12 rotated once for 24 hours by the timepiece movement. The cam 20 is carried by a bell crank lever 22 on which a spring 23 operates to maintain the cam portion 20a in a notch 21b in a set position of the day dial 21. An eccentric cam 29 bears an arm 22b of the lever 22 to reduce the pressure of the cam portion 20a against the notch 21b, so that less effort is required to drive the dial 21.
