Abstract

1306432 Calendar timepieces CITIZEN WATCH CO Ltd 19 Feb 1970 [20 Feb 1969] 8149/70 Heading G3T A setting mechanism for the date ring of a calendar timepiece comprises a clutch wheel which is rotatable with and slidable along a stem. The clutch wheel has teeth which mesh with a gear on a correction wheel mounted on a lever. In a first embodiment, a winding stem 10 can take any of three axial positions. The stem is held in these positions by a pin 15b on a setting lever 15 engaging in recesses 21a, b, c in a spring 21. In Fig. 1, the stem is shown withdrawn one step from its rest position and thus ready for datesetting. In this position, rotation of the stem 10 causes rotation of a clutch wheel 12 which meshes with a transverse correction gear 17, the latter being fixed with a correction wheel 18. Fingers on the wheel 18 then engage teeth 23a to rotate the date ring 23. Axial movement of the stem to its rest position, Fig. 3 (not shown), causes a clutch lever 24, actuated by setting lever 15, to move the clutch wheel 12 along the stem 10 so that teeth 12a mesh with teeth 11a on a winding pinion 11. The gear 17 is held out of engagement with the clutch 12 by its mounting in a lever 16 and by a spring 22. Withdrawing the stem by two steps brings the mechanism into the position of Fig. 4 (not shown) wherein teeth 12b on the clutch 12 engage a setting wheel 13 in mesh with minute wheel 14 for adjusting the hands of the timepiece. In a second embodiment Figs. 5-8 (not shown), the lever 16 and springs 21, 22 are combined into a single unit.
