Abstract

1,171,569. Securing railway rails. GREGORY INDUSTRIES, Inc. 27 May, 1968 [26 May, 1967], No. 25199/68. Heading E1G. C-shaped rail-securing spring clips 58 have their lower limbs fastened to a rail-locating base plate 22 by horizontal pins 74 inserted through pairs of apertured studs 54 on the plate. The rail 10 seats on a flanged rubber pad 50 between ridges 28 on the plate 22. A second pad 18, e.g. of polyethylene, underlies the plate 22 and the latter is secured to a concrete or other sleeper or beam 14 by means such as diagonally-opposed bolts 16 and rectangular insulating blocks 34. The blocks 34 may have off-centre holes allowing two-position lateral adjustment. To facilitate insertion of each pin 74 the clip limbs are forced apart by angular movement of a grooved rectangular bar 80 on a tool 76 carrying an L-shaped stop 94.
