Abstract

1327814 Securing railway rails G MOLYNEUX and G W MOLYNEUX 19 April 1971 [20 Feb 1970] 8276/70 Heading E1G A flanged railway rail 10 is clamped on a metal or other surface 12 by the central portion 35 of a U-shaped clip whose legs 36 are looped back at 37 and have their free ends engaged under and interlocking with convergent or cam-like locating formations at the sides of a body 13 fixed to the surface 12, the camming arrangement resisting the movement of the clip away from the rail. As shown the body 13 is trapezium in plan, its convergent sides providing the camming arrangement and having overhanging shoulders (30), Fig. 2 (not shown) locating the convergent leg ends. Alternatively or additionally the body 13 may have formations engaging notches or turned-up ends, Fig. 5 (not shown) on the legs to provide the camming action. As shown the body 13 abuts the rail flange edge and is laterally adjustable on a fixed stud 21 by rotation of the top flange 18 of an eccentric plug 16 engaging a bore 15 in the body.
