Abstract

1,153,467. Railway track supports. JAPANESE NATIONAL RAILWAYS AND KOWA CONCRETE CO. Ltd. 15 Dec., 1966 [27 Dec., 1965; 6 July, 1966; (2)], No. 56122/66. Heading E1G. Railway track is carried on longitudinal seat members 2 resting on their ends on base members 1 through interposed resilient pads 10, further pads 11 being interposed between opposed side faces the seat and base members The base member 1 may have an H-section projection 6, 7 to receive the ends of two adjacent seat members 2, or may have a rectangular projection, received by recesses in the ends of the seat members. Further resilient pads 12 may be provided for longitudinal damping and longitudinal bolts 19 for expansion joints. The seats are retained to the base members by clamps 16, height adjustment being provided by thickness change of the pads 10. Rails are secured in grooves 13 by bolts passing through holes 14 15 combined semi and three-quarter elliptic springs bearing on the rail base flange and insulating packing blocks; the bolts passing through insulating sleeves in the springs and the rail resting on a pad. The seats and bases may be of concrete or of steel. In a steel construction for a bridge, the seat is carried on a resilient pad located in a box secured to the cross girder and lateral location is provided by a similar pad and box mounted on a bracket at the side of the seat. Track alignment may be checked by cross-wires in circles 29 mounted on supports 30 secured to the corners of the base members.
