Molten metal is passed from a ladle to a mould by means of a main pouring tube 10 depending from the ladle and feeding into an intermediate tiltable tundish 9, runners 12, and an auxiliary pouring tube extending into the mould. A number of runners 12 may feed a number of moulds.. The auxiliary pouring tube may be raised as the level of molten metal in the mould rises, with its free end either above or below the surface of the metal.
