Abstract

1,168,386. Spray carburetters. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. April 10, 1968 [April 14, 1967], No.17196/68. Heading F1B. The needle valve 36 controlling fuel flow through the idling passage 22, 24, has a shoulder 40 which engages a sleeve 28 locked in the body 10 to set the maximum opening of the idling passage by the needle valve. The sleeve 28 is screwed into the body to provide the maximum desired fuel flow with the shoulder 40 abutting the sleeve and is then locked in position by deforming metal of the body 10 into the slot 34 or by an adhesive capable of curing in the absence of air. The needle 36 is provided with an insert 39 of plastically deformable material, e.g. nylon or rubber. The insert may be a ring extending round the needle.
