Abstract
116,479. Murphy, L. Feb. 25, 1918. Indicators actuated by pressure of head of liquid. -In apparatus of the kind in which air or other gas is forced into a gauge glass reservoir communicating with the liquid to be gauged through a tube dipping down to the bottom of the liquid, as described in Specification 23411/06, [Class 106, Registering, &c.], the indicator, which consists of a gauge glass containing, say mercury, acts as the air compressor. The tube C dipping into the liquid in the container A opens into the top of a tube E surrounded by a transparent vessel D containing the indicating liquid, so that, when the vessel is moved upwards until the air in the tubes C, E is sufficiently compressed to bubble into the container, the rise of the indicating liquid indicates the head of liquid in the container. The tube C may open into the tube E through the bottom of the vessel D, and the tube E may be adapted to move up and down in the vessel. The vessel may be made of opaque material, a gauge glass being fitted on its side to show the level of the indicating liquid.
