Abstract

1,158,390. Cycle frames. PIAGGIO & C. S.p.A. 2 Feb., 1968 [8 Feb., 1967], No. 5468/68. Heading B7E. A motor assisted pedal cycle, Fig. 3, comprises longitudinal channel members 11, 1<SP>11</SP> containing belt and chain drives from the engine and pedals respectively, covers 19<SP>1</SP>, 19<SP>11</SP>, Fig. 4, for the channel members, a rear wheel mudguard portion 5 joining the members 1 and bracing the rear fork 7, and a tank 4 forming part of the frame and connecting the longitudinals with the steering head 2. A lid 20 resting on the longitudinals provides a foot rest and engine cover and the engine which is cooled by air drawn through holes in the lid 20 is hung from bolts passing through slots 10. A gear-box (14), Fig. 2 (not shown), is bolted to the longitudinals and supports the rear wheel, and the belt (11) runs over expandable type pulleys to provide speed variation.
