Abstract
1,148,037. Barge and pusher vessel. BULDOZA KOJI K.K. 3 Oct., 1967, No. 44936/67. Headings B7A, B7S and B7V. An ocean-going barge 1 and a pusher vessel 6, in which a recess (4) ¢ to 1/3 as long as the length of the pusher vessel (i.e. l = ¢ to 1/3 l<SP>1</SP>) and open at the upper and lower sides thereof is formed in the stem of the barge, the bow 3 of the pusher vessel being fitted into said recess so that the pivoting point 0 of the pusher vessel is located inside the recess, has shock absorbers 7, 8 of strong elastic material interposed between the recess and the pusher vessel, and the pusher vessel and the barge are connected together by equipment (bitts 9 and 14 on the barge; bitts 15, 17 and roller bitts 11 on the pusher vessel; connecting ropes 16 of tenacious elastic fibre; and ropes 10 connected via a rope 12 to a winch 13) which scarcely allows any relative movement in the athwartship direction though allowing an up-and-down movement to a certain extent. The shock absorbers may be rubber tyres slidable up and down along wire ropes and cooled by sprinkling with water (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown).
