Abstract

1,236,566. Scavenging vessels. G. W. P. HENCKEL. 7 Oct., 1968 [14 July, 1967], No. 32506/67. Headings B7A and B7M. A twin-hulled ship has equipment for removing oil from the surface of the water lying between the two hulls 5 and the equipment includes a retractable suction device 8 mounted in the superstructure 6 between the hulls. Flexible barges are attached to the suction device for storing the oil removed. These flexible barges are made of a porous material which retains the oil but permits water to pass through. Fins 13, 14 pivoted on each prow guide the oil to the suction device.
