Abstract

1,189,439. Caps for bottles &c. R. J. M. CHAPELAT. 6 Feb., 1969 [29 Feb., 1968, No. 6360/69. Heading B8T. A container closure comprises a capsule 6 with a skirt 8 adapted to fit the container neck 3, the capsule 6 having a base 12 with at least one eccentric orifice (13), Fig. 3 (not shown), and cap 7 with an internally threaded skirt 18 to engage threads on the container neck. The cap 7 has knives 19 on an annular sealing extension 16 which locate in the orifices. When the cap is initially removed the knives 19 cut out the base 12 around its weakened circumference. The centre annular skirt 17 prevents the cap 7 from being forced downward and the base 12 from being unintentionally fractured. The cap 7 also has a central bar 14 which passes through a central hole in the member 12 and forms a head so that, when fitted to the container the two parts 7 and 8 are joined. In this way the base 12 remains fixed to the bar 14 on opening. The skirt 18 has axial notches at its lower edge, the threads being formed on intermediate tongues (21), Fig. 2 (not shown).
