Abstract

1,108,494. Automatic circuit-breakers. WALSALL CONDUITS Ltd. 31 Oct 1966 [2 Nov., 1965], No. 46274/65. Heading H1N. A thermal/magnetic overload unit includes a tripping lever 40 pivotally mounted at 44, the lever being actuated by a bimetallic strip 37 or by a hooklike projection 49 on an armature lever 47 pivoted at 48, projection 49 passing through an opening 43 in lever 40 so that part 49a of projection 49 engages the opposite side of lever 40 to that adjacent the armature lever 47. Movement of tripping lever 40 releases a circuit-breaking lever 24, and a projection 32 thereof engages a pin 16 to collapse linkage members 15 and 17 and allow a spring 9 to pivot contact lever 6 to open contacts 4 and 5. The contacts 4. 5 are of silver/ tungsten alloy and have a known arc-quenching device 23 therearound.
