Abstract
1,098,645. Stays. C. A. RAYBONE. Sept. 2, 1965 [June 3, 1964], No. 22933/64. Heading E2F. When a door is opened, a stay comprising arms 12, 13 pivots about a pin 16 until said arms are axially aligned, when a projection 15 locks into a slot 14 to hold the door open. A spring 17 urges the locking of the projection and slot, while the arms are freed from one another prior to closing the door by pulling on a handle 18 attached to a downwardly depending extension 13<SP>b</SP> at the end of the arm 13. Various other embodiments are illustrated, all showing alternative methods of locking the arms in the open (extended) position, while in Fig. 7 (not shown) the arm 13 is cranked so that the stay will only "break" in one direction on closing, as opposed to the axially aligned arms of the other embodiments. In every embodiment the arms 12, 13 are pivoted at 12<SP>a</SP>, 13<SP>a</SP> respectively to a door bracket 10 and a door frame bracket 11.
