Abstract

1,078,965. Air cooled engines; lubricating. TATRA NARODNI PODNIK. April 29, 1965 [May 6, 1964], No. 18073/65. Heading F1B. A cooling air blower is located between the two cylinder banks of an air-cooled V-engine, Figs. and 3 (not shown), with its axis of rotation inclined to the engine longitudinal axis. Air is supplied to the blower through an oil cooler (not shown) and a duct 24. The blower impeller is driven by a shaft 3 through bevel gearing 4, 8 and a shaft 19. The shaft 3 is driven by the engine through a fluid coupling (not shown) which is controlled from a thermostat. From a gallery 13, lubricating oil is supplied to a bearing 9 of the shaft 19 via ducts 14, 15 and returns to the crank-case 1 via an overflow hole 16 from a casing 7 enclosing the blower drive. A lubricating oil cooler (17) Fig. 1 (not shown) is situated at the entrance of the blower inlet duct 24.
