A circulation pump for a central heating installation comprises a rotary throttle valve 1 arranged in the suction passage 3 directly opposite the impeller 5. The wall 2 of the valve 1 is so shaped that the pump delivery increases proportionally to the angle through which the valve control knob 6 is turned. It may be arranged, as by shaping the wall 2, that there is still a small flow even at the minimum setting of the knob 6.
