[Class 110 (i)] A screw fan or pump has an annular diffuser passage g terminating in a volute outlet h. The diffuser passage curves outwardly through an angle of between 30‹ and 60‹ and has a cross-sectional area which increases at the same rate as the cross-sectional area of a circular cone having an apex angle of not more than 30‹. The diffuser passage is unbladed.
